Like the morning sun, the victories for our Go Solar
campaign keep on rising.
Today, Colorado’s New Energy Economy took another
step closer to home when Gov. Ritter signed H.B. 1350 this morning. This is the
second of three bills in our Go Solar campaign that Gov. Ritter has signed into
law. He’ll be signing the third bill soon (and I’ll be posting here about that).
H.B. 1350 establishes a unique finance mechanism that enables cities and counties to create programs that
provide low-interest loans to home and small business owners. Funding for these
programs will come through a change in law that allows cities and counties to
use revenue from existing bonding capacity for investment in renewable energy
and efficiency measures. The loans made through the program can then be paid
back overtime through a property lien, making clean energy improvements.
Today's signing continued our success this session in creating access and expanding opportunity to
the New Energy Economy for every Coloradan.
