Today, the Vice President announced a joint partnership between the Departments of Energy, Housing, Labor, and Agriculture to create a $500 million project to train workers for jobs in the clean energy economy. A press statement follows by Pam Kiely, legislative program director of Environment Colorado.

“Vice President Joe Biden hit the nail on the head when he said that he and the Obama Administration ‘get it’ when it comes to the nexus between building a clean energy economy and ensuring America is on the path to a strong economic recovery.

“Bringing together the Departments of Energy, Housing, Labor, and Agriculture shows that this administration is serious about putting the clean energy economy at the core of their recovery efforts. By leading an effort for a green economic recovery, we can create good jobs and a strong middle class across America.

“Colorado continues to be the national model for proving that the clean energy economy works. We have shown that we can create good jobs, revitalize rural communities, and attract investment capital to the state – all the while transitioning to a clean energy infrastructure that cleans up our air and water and protects our environment.

“In just five years, Colorado created a vibrant clean energy economy bringing with it good jobs for hardworking, skilled Coloradans. Now, Vice President Biden and the Obama administration are using Colorado’s model of success for a national vision of a green economic recovery.

“In the days, weeks and months ahead, we have an opportunity to transform how we power our country and better our lives by developing a stronger workforce and ensuring we have a healthier, cleaner planet for our children and grandchildren.

“Environment Colorado applauds Vice President Biden, President Obama, and the cabinet secretaries who are all working so hard to ensure that we have a safer, secure, and more sustainable future.”
