Cleaner fuels for Colorado
Coloradans agree: we need to cut global warming pollution. And to reach the science-based goal of a 20 percent reduction by 2020, we need to cut pollution from our cars and trucks. A cleaner fuels standard is an important first step.
Gasoline pollutes our air and costs consumers far too much. Cleaner fuels—such as hydrogen and ethanol—are a homegrown solution that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil, bring jobs to Colorado and cut global warming pollution.
In February, the Department of Energy awarded $24 million to Lignol Innovations to build a cellulosic ethanol plant with support by Suncor in Commerce City. This plant is an example of the kind of economic development that we can create if Colorado were to adopt a clean fuels standard.
