Clean Air, Clean Jobs bill becomes law

In 2010, we took a giant step toward replacing dirty, coal-fired power plants with cleaner sources of energy when then-Gov. Ritter signed the Clean Air, Clean Jobs bill into law. We helped write the bill and forget the agreement, which will help keep the Brown Cloud away from the Front Range and bring tangible health benefits to millions of Coloradans.

Dirty coal plants to close or convert

Two of Colorado's oldest, dirtiest coal-fired power plants will close or convert to cleaner energy sources, keeping 70,000 pounds of toxic emissions out of the air. The victory came in 2011 after our staff, supporters and allies urged the Public Utilities Commission not to let polluters derail our Clean Air, Clean Jobs plan.
