America has more than doubled its use of wind power since the beginning of 2008 and we are starting to reap the environmental rewards. Wind energy now displaces about 68 million metric tons of global warming pollution each year — as much as is produced by 13 million cars.

Colorado is leading the way in the fight to stop global warming. We helped convince Gov. Bill Ritter to commit to big reductions in our state’s global warming pollution: 80% below 2005 levels by 2050.

President Obama, Congress Save Wind Power in Fiscal Cliff Agreement

The main federal incentives for wind power -– the renewable energy Production Tax Credit (PTC) and the offshore wind Investment Tax Credit (ITC) -– expired on December 31, 2012, but as of January 2 will now be available for wind power projects that start construction over the next year, allowing for continued growth of Coloradan and American wind power. Promoting clean energy for Colorado

In 2008, our staff and members helped convince state leaders to pass legislation that incentivized the transition to renewable energy and helped and bring down the costs of efficiency upgrades for homes and businesses.

Letter to President Obama from 90 Local Elected Officials, Recreational Businesses, Outdoors Groups

Environment Colorado and 90 groups released a letter to President Obama calling for lasting protections from drilling and pollution for parks like Rocky Mountain National Park.
