DENVER—August 26, 2004 – Elevation Outfitters, Denver’s only locally owned and operated active lifestyle and outdoor apparel store, will host a 10K run through Lodo on October 17, 2004. The race, presented by Westword Newspaper — Denver’s premiere source for arts and entertainment — will start and finish near Elevation Outfitters’ location in Denver’s Larimer Square. The race will be followed by a presentation of cash prizes and a vendor exposition.

Proceeds from the Elevation Outfitters’ 10K Run for the Environment, presented by Westword, will benefit Environment Colorado and Larimer Arts Association. Sponsors for the event include Salomon, Rocky Mountain Sports, Boulder County Fit, Mountain Gazette, Alphagraphics and The North Face.

“We wanted to pull together an event that would bring together the community and support important local organizations,” says Jon Larson, co-owner of Elevation Outfitters. “Everyone is welcome – from serious runners to people just interested in a leisurely jog through Lodo on a beautiful fall morning.”

“We’re very excited to be involved with this event,” adds Tracy Kontrelos, associate publisher, Westword. “It represents everything our publication believes in – local businesses, our incredible downtown area, and support for the Colorado environment and arts organizations. We’re looking forward to a very successful first year.”

Runners can register for the event at www.elevationoutfitters.com or by stopping in the store located at 1428 Larimer Street. The race registration fee is $30.
